Our Children are “Digital Heroin” Addicts

“Dr. Peter Whybrow, director of neuroscience at UCLA, calls screens “electronic cocaine” and Chinese researchers call them “digital heroin.” In fact, Dr. Andrew Doan, the head of addiction research for the Pentagon and the US Navy — who has been researching video game addiction — calls video games and screen technologies “digital pharmakeia” (Greek for drug)”. We all want the best for our children and sometimes even if you don’t agree with something, you must accept it. Technology is one thing that makes you wonder…Is it ok for them to use it or is it bad? many parents are very proud of their children to see how easy they can use a phone or a tablet even at a very very young age, or even before they can talk. But is that good for them? What happens when you take it away? You are facing now an aggressive temper, tantrums, or they become apathetic, bored and in same cases, you see an increase on depression, anxiety and aggression.

Researchers are showing how technology raises dopamine level and the brain’s frontal cortex in the same way cocaine does.
When you are addicted to something, you can live without it, but what do you do with a tech addiction? Is everywhere, right?
What can you do for your children? Lego instead of tech games, reading books instead of IPads, playing outside with actual kids instead of TV.
Now schools are using tablets so what do you do now? Parents are playing Pokemon, children playing anything, you are using your phone for everything, bank acc, bills, shopping, parking, you name it! There is an App for everything and trust me, your kids will find it.
