Elon Musk and Interplanetary Transport System

Elon Musk dream was to create the possibility for life on other planet. At the 67th International Astronautical Congress Guadalajara, Mexico, this was the most expected event. Inside the mind of Elon Musk it’s a journey into the future. SpaceX’s CEO will explain how he wants to colonize Mars in the next few decades just because … he can.

“This is not about everyone moving to Mars, this is about becoming multiplanetary. This is really about minimizing existential risk and having a tremendous sense of adventure. I just don’t think there’s any way to have a self-sustaining Mars base without re-usability. I think this is really fundamental,” Musk says. “If wooden sailing ships in the old days were not reusable, I don’t think the United States would exist.”

“In the sort of grander historical context, what really matters is being able to send a large number of people, like tens of thousands if not hundreds of thousands of people, and ultimately millions of tons of cargo,” he says. “I actually care much more about that than, say, the first few trips.” National Geographic
