ESP or extrasensory perception, also called sixth sense, comprises reception of advice not obtained through the physical perceptions that are established but felt with the head. The term was embraced by Duke University psychologist J. B. Rhine to denote psychic powers such as telepathy, clairaudience, and clairvoyance, and their trans-temporal process as precognition or retrocognition.
Parapsychology is the study of paranormal psychic phenomena. Parapsychology was criticized for continuing investigation despite being unable to supply persuasive evidence for the existence of any psychic phenomena after over a century of research. The scientific community rejects ESP because of the lack of an evidence base, the dearth of a theory which would clarify ESP, having less experimental techniques which can supply faithfully favorable outcomes, and considers ESP to be non-existen.
