Inventor Vladimir Nikolaevich Tatarenko, from Kiev, Ukraine, has patents for an aircraft design he says will save lives. His design incorporates a detachable passenger cabin with the remainder of the aircraft (cockpit, wings, tail, etc.). Using a mechanism which provides separation of the lower part of the fuselage with passengers and their luggage, gradual decline of separated part and its soft landing. The soft landing is achieved by using parachutes and airbags. Here is his video presentation of the idea.
