Every year, the world of sports get together under one roof to celebrate the Laureus World Sports Awards. Started in 1999 and having first inauguration on 2000, is a global sports-based charity event, created to improve the lives of young people.
Stars Michael Johnson, Tegla Loroupe, Edwin Moses, Boris Becker, Ion Titiac, gymnast Nadia Comaneci, swimmer Missy Franklin, soccer standouts Luis Figo, Cafu, Carlos Pujol and Jens Lehmann, and the list is so long with all the amazing people who attended this event, hosted by actor Hugh Grant.
All stars donated their Red Carpet shoes to charity and they all wore sport shoes for the night.

“Sport has the power to change the world. It has the power to unite people in a way that little else does. Sport can awaken hope where there was previously only despair.” Nelson Mandela said on the first opening in 2000 and it became the philosophy of Laureus.
