Steve Harvey hosting the celebrated Miss Universe pageant for the first time on Sunday evening in Las Vegas committed a big faux pas when he pronounced Miss Columbia, Ariadna Guitierrez Arevalo as the winner only to announce Miss Philippines, Pia Alonzo Wurzbach is the winner after Ariadna had already been crowned and had received flowers from the last year winner, Pualina Vega who is also a native of Columbia.
Wurzbach, who had taken her place with her contestant, walked towards the centre stage when it was clear that she had won, but dint take the crown from Guitierrez.
Steve later took to social media site, Twitter to apologise:
“I’d like to apologize wholeheartedly to Miss Colombia & Miss Philippines for my huge mistake, I fell terrible.”
