A large piece of metal was found on a beach in Nakhon Si Thammarat province, Thailand, Sunday, Jan. 24, 2016. The debris could be from Malaysian Airlines flight MH370. MH370 was a scheduled international passenger flight that disappeared on March 8, 2014, while flying from Kuala Lumpur International Airport near Kuala Lumpur, Malaysia, to Beijing Capital International Airport in Beijing, China. The flight last made voice contact with air traffic control on March 8th, 2014, at 01:19 local time, when it was over the South China Sea, less than an hour after takeoff. The aircraft disappeared from air traffic controllers’ radar screens at 01:22. Malaysian military radar continued to track the aircraft as it deviated from its planned flight path and crossed the Malay Peninsula. It left the range of Malaysian military radar at 02:22 while over the Andaman Sea, 200 nautical miles northwest of Penang in northwestern Malaysia. On July 29th, 2015, a right wing flaperon, which was confirmed to be from Flight 370, was found on the beach of RĂ©union Island in the Indian Ocean, 16 months after Flight 370 disappeared.
