‘Man stomped on pregnant girlfriend’s stomach because he didn’t want child’, court is told
Kevin Wilson, a teacher assistant who had sex with Malorie Bantala last year November, allegedly attacked her with the help of unnamed 17-year-old accomplice in order to forcefully kill her unborn baby after she refused to have an abortion. Both men had disguised in motorcycle helmets and attacked her stomach, the baby was birthed stillborn by an emergency cesarean section. She told police that her baby father was responsible when emergency arrived.
Malorie had reportedly told Kevin a month after they slept together that she was pregnant, Kevin who said he wasn’t ready to be a father suggested they go for an abortion but Malorie wouldn’t and when told she wouldn’t abort, he cut ties with her only to call her later to ask “Why are you doing this to me?”
Kevin has denied being among the men who carried the attack stating that he had paid his brother a visit at the time of the attack.
Opening the case, prosecutor Jonathan Rees QC said: “It was a cowardly and callous attack, each male wearing a motorcycle helmet in an apparent effort to conceal his identity.
“It is the prosecution case that one of the attackers was the unborn baby’s father – Kevin Wilson. He had made it clear that he didn’t want the baby to be born and was not pleased when Miss Bantala informed others that he was the father.
