Doomsday solar mega-flare could blast humanity back to the Stone Age, scientists warn.
According to a new report, the Sun is able to produce a super-flare equivalent to a billion nuclear bomb! And this could damage our communication, energy system, radio, power circuit etc.
This danger came to life after when a super-flare on a star with similar attributes of a solar flare was noticed by astronomers and it is said the Sun could produce a flare 1,000 times more powerful than that of a star.
A quote from Chloe Pugh, lead scientist from the university of Warwick “If the Sun were to produce a super-flare it would be disastrous for life on Earth; our GPS and radio communication systems could be severely damaged and there could be large-scale power blackouts as a result if string electrical currents being induced in power grids.”
Luckily for us, humans, conditions needed for a solar mega-flare are extremely unlikely to be met given previous observations of the activities in the solar system.
